NCUK partners with Newcastle University Medicine (NUMed) Malaysia

NCUK is pleased to welcome Newcastle University Medicine (NUMed) Malaysia to its global university network, expanding opportunities for international students to access high quality education and medical training in Asia.
Located in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Newcastle University Medicine (NUMed) Malaysia is the international campus of Newcastle University, UK, a respected member of the Russell Group of research intensive universities. Ranked 129th globally and 95th in the Medicine category in the QS World University Rankings 2025, Newcastle University is widely recognised for its academic excellence and leading research.
Through this new partnership, NCUK students who successfully complete the International Foundation Year (IFY) will be able to progress to Newcastle University Medicine (NUMed) Malaysia’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or BSc (Honours) in Biomedical Sciences. This creates exciting pathways for students aiming for careers in medicine and biomedical sciences.
Both programmes reflect the curriculum and academic standards of Newcastle University in the UK, ensuring students receive the same high quality education while studying in Malaysia. The MBBS degree awarded at NUMed is recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK, giving graduates the opportunity to pursue further training or registration in the United Kingdom, subject to local requirements at the time. This provides students with a clear and accessible route to a globally respected medical education and professional future.
