NCUK announces a new partnership with Northumbria University, a leading UK institution in Newcastle upon Tyne. The collaboration expands opportunities for international students to progress to one of the country’s most dynamic and forward thinking universities.
Named Modern University of the Year 2025 by The Times Good University Guide, Northumbria is known for its mix of academic excellence and industry focused teaching. Its commitment to real world experience and employability leads to strong career outcomes for graduates.
We are delighted to be partnering with NCUK, a pathway provider with a fantastic reputation, known for supporting students who bring a wealth of diversity and academic excellence to universities. We very much look forward to welcoming these bright minds to Northumbria University.
Rob Carthy, Director of International at Northumbria University
Northumbria’s commitment to applied learning is reflected in its partnerships with major global brands and organisations. In fashion, students collaborate with companies such as adidas, Levi’s and Kering through The Microfibre Consortium on sustainability projects. Through the Syllabus programme with size?, students respond to live briefs for brands like Vans, with top work feeding into real marketing campaigns and opening doors to graduate employment.
The university’s industry links extend far beyond fashion. Engineering students work with Lockheed Martin on space research and satellite technology. Creative disciplines connect with partners such as Penguin Random House, Spotify via the RSA Student Design Awards and Philips on AI driven healthcare projects. Northumbria also collaborates with the National Crime Agency and UK Police Forces on digital forensics innovation.
This applied approach has shaped an impressive list of alumni, including Sir Jony Ive, former Chief Design Officer at Apple, Amanda Berry OBE, former CEO of BAFTA, and Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England.
We extend a warm welcome to Northumbria University as the newest member of the NCUK Global Network. This partnership provides our students with access to an ambitious, research-driven university that is deeply committed to academic excellence and employability. Northumbria’s global outlook and innovative approach to learning make it a valuable addition to our growing community of universities. Northumbria equips students with the practical experience and global perspective needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
Holly Searson, Head of University Partnerships at NCUK
Through this partnership, NCUK students will have access to a university recognised for its strong student experience, excellent employability outcomes and leadership in sustainability. Northumbria’s focus on developing potential and delivering real world results aligns closely with NCUK’s mission to connect students worldwide with life changing higher education opportunities.
