Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Cornwall, south west England, you will study in one of the safest and most beautiful campus environments in the UK. A wide range of creative courses is available, including fine art, drawing, graphic design, advertising, architecture, illustration, photography, fashion, filmmaking, animation, and game development, alongside courses in business, tourism management, and computer sciences.

Whatever your goal, you can begin with the Employability Service.

If you are looking to gain real world experience alongside your studies, Micro Internships will offer a valuable opportunity. You can apply for a paid internship lasting between 2 to 6 weeks, completing 30 paid hours while developing professional, transferable, and industry skills.

Many courses also offer the option to include a Professional Placement Year, which will extend your studies by one year, typically making it a four year programme.

The Falmouth Campus is set within subtropical gardens and offers a wide range of industry standard facilities that support creative practice. The Penryn Campus is home to most of the University’s academic departments and includes facilities such as the Sports Centre, The Stannary, and the Sustainability Cafe.

The Student Union brings together a wide range of groups, including sea swimming, surfing, inland expeditions, and more. Living in Falmouth and Penryn, you will also have easy access to historical attractions, shops, cafes, and pubs.

The Academic Skills team, made up of teachers and advisors, will provide guidance and learning support to help you get the most from your course. You can develop your academic skills through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials covering Essays and presentations, Your dissertation, Working in a group, Reading and making notes, Citing and referencing.

University life can have its ups and downs, and during your time here you may need someone to talk to. A wide range of support is available to help you look after your mental and physical wellbeing and feel settled in your life at Falmouth. The University is proud to be the first and only specialist creative arts institution to receive the University Mental Health Charter Award from Student Minds, a national accreditation recognising sector leading mental health and wellbeing support for students.

NCUK students are guaranteed an individual room in on campus accommodation at Glasney Student Village, with additional options available in Falmouth and Penryn.

Glasney Student Village accommodates over 1,500 students from Falmouth University and University of Exeter on the Penryn campus. The accommodation includes shared flats for six to nine students, with fully equipped kitchens and communal living spaces.

Students automatically become part of a Students’ Union shared with University of Exeter, offering access to a wide range of sports and societies. These include football, rugby, badminton, yoga, tennis, squash, pool and snooker, Tang Soo Do, Asian Society, Film Society, Gaming Society, Neurodiversity and Disabled Society, Surf Club, sea swimming, EcoSoc, Vegan Society, Dance Society, Orchestra, Business and Finance Club, Anime and Manga Society, along with more than 120 other groups.

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it is no surprise that Falmouth University is strongly committed to sustainability through a range of initiatives focused on reducing its carbon footprint, embedding sustainability into education, and supporting community engagement.

In 2019, the University declared a climate and ecological emergency, recognising the urgent need to respond to environmental challenges. It has since developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy built around three key areas: Learning and Teaching, Research and Knowledge Exchange, and Physical Estate and Operations.

A bespoke tool is used to support the integration of sustainability across courses, helping students build the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact during their studies and beyond graduation.

Sustainability is embedded throughout its courses as a core principle, from Fashion to Business to Product Design, shaping the University’s overall approach.

The University’s research contributes to new ideas and innovations that address the causes of climate change and biodiversity loss, while also supporting adaptation to their impacts.
