NCUK welcomes the University of Glasgow to its University Network

NCUK is delighted to welcome the University of Glasgow to its Partner University Network.
A member of the Russell Group, the university offers a wide range of degree programmes across four core disciplines: Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Arts and Humanities, and Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences.
With a strong academic reputation, the University of Glasgow is ranked 80th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2027. It becomes the 11th university in the QS World Top 100 to join NCUK’s network.
Through this partnership, students who successfully complete the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) at University Foundation College (UFC), the only NCUK Study Centre in Qatar, can progress to undergraduate degree programmes at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.

Located in Scotland’s largest city, the University of Glasgow has its main campus at Gilmorehill, with additional campuses at Garscube and in Dumfries, southwest Scotland. The university has welcomed 35,000 students from more than 140 countries, creating a diverse and inclusive international community.
The university’s Careers Service supports students throughout their studies and after graduation. Its award winning team helps students explore career options, develop their employability skills and plan their next steps. Students can visit the Peer Career Support Team at the Career Studio for advice or book a coaching appointment with a member of the careers team.
NCUK students progressing to the University of Glasgow can explore placements, connect with employers and discover career opportunities in Scotland, across the UK and internationally. Regular careers fairs, employer events and careers masterclasses give students opportunities to build professional connections while studying.
The university’s distinguished alumni include David MacMillan, who received the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on building molecules, helping scientists develop medicines more sustainably. He is one of several Nobel laureates associated with the university.
Other notable figures in the university’s history include Adam Smith, the economist, professor and author; Lord Kelvin, the physicist and engineer; and James McCune Smith, who became the first African American to earn a university medical degree in 1837.
