Lourens de Jager is a business-focused educator, entrepreneur, and former high school principal with international experience across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa. His professional background spans education, enterprise development, property development, and franchise restaurant operations.
He has taught entrepreneurship, designed business-focused educational programmes, and mentored student teams that achieved world champion status in the HUBRO International Business Challenge. He has also led enterprise and skills-development initiatives for young people, job seekers, and small business owners, helping individuals develop practical business and leadership capabilities.
As an entrepreneur, Lourens has owned and managed franchise restaurants, renovated and developed properties, operated a commercial bakery, and designed and managed a business incubation programme supporting emerging entrepreneurs and startup ventures.
Prior to joining higher education, Lourens served as a high school principal, gaining extensive experience in strategic leadership, organisational management, and curriculum development.
Outside of his professional work, Lourens is passionate about landscaping and gardening and enjoys exploring the natural world. He and his family particularly enjoyed snorkeling in the Red Sea, reflecting his appreciation for outdoor activities and the environment.
He holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Roehampton, together with qualifications in education and financial accounting.
