NCUK has expanded its global university network through a new partnership with the University of Surrey, providing international students with more opportunities to progress to a leading UK university recognised for academic excellence, student experience, and career-focused education.

Students who successfully complete the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) at University Foundation College (UFC), the only NCUK Study Centre in Qatar, can progress to bachelor’s degree programmes at the University of Surrey, subject to meeting the university’s entry requirements.

The University of Surrey is ranked among the top 250 universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and ranked 15th out of 122 UK universities for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey. The university is also recognised for its outstanding performance in areas including Hospitality, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Business.

Home to a global community of more than 17,500 students, including over 3,800 international students from 135+ countries, the University of Surrey offers a welcoming and diverse learning environment that supports students throughout their academic journey.

Located in the popular market town of Guildford, just 34 minutes from central London by train, Surrey offers students the best of both worlds: a peaceful, green campus environment with easy access to one of the world’s most exciting cities. The university’s beautiful campus features outstanding learning facilities across all faculties, along with a wide range of accommodation options and dedicated support services for international students.

Beyond academics, Surrey provides a vibrant student experience with a wide choice of places to eat, relax, and connect across its leafy campus. Students can explore more than 160 clubs and societies, discover new interests, develop existing passions, and build friendships with a diverse university community.

Students interested in sport and wellbeing can benefit from Surrey Sports Park, an impressive campus facility offering a wide range of sports opportunities, including a 50-metre swimming pool, a 120-station gym, and a modern 10-court padel centre. The Students’ Union also organises events, activities, and volunteering opportunities to help students make the most of university life.

Surrey is committed to sustainability and creating a positive impact through education, research, and campus initiatives. Inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the university integrates sustainability across teaching, operations, and student activities, while working towards becoming a net zero carbon and zero waste institution.

This new partnership further strengthens the progression opportunities available through NCUK, providing students at UFC in Qatar with a direct pathway to a globally recognised UK degree while studying at a university recognised for academic excellence, student support, and an outstanding student experience.
